KEMBARA BALKAN - MONTENEGRO | 08 KOTOR : Sebening Pagi Kotor - Part 02

Area Port of Kotor

Banyak kapal kapal pesiar berlabuh di sini.

Kalau time pagi boleh tengok orang memancing. Ada yang betulkan bot. Ada jugak yang jogging di kawasan ni.

Suasananya memang aman dan tenang !

Kotor has one of the best preserved medieval old towns in the Adriatic and is a UNESCO world heritage site.

It is home to numerous sights, such as the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in the old town (built in 1166), and the ancient walls which stretch for 4.5 km (3 mi) directly above the city. Sveti Đorđe and Gospa od Škrpijela islets off the coast of Perast are also among the tourism destinations in the vicinity of Kotor.

Sea Gate of 1555, main entrance to Old Town. Ada 3 entrances di sini.

Ada kerusi besar tempat orang bergambar. Sempat jugak orang mintak bantuan suruh ambikkan gambar.

Map of Kotor. Kalau area Oldtown tu buleh jalan kaki je.

Bahagian hadapan Oldtown mengadap Port of Kotor

The Stari Grad is fully walled (the mountain functions as a rear wall). Four gates offer access to the town: The Main Gate, along the Bay, the North Gate, the South Gate, and a smaller New Gate. There are no cars allowed in the Stari Grad, nor are there standard road names in the Stari Grad. Although all buildings are numbered, it is best to use landmarks for directions. Generally, the squares are named for the church in their center, and directions either relate to the closest square or the closest gate. The most obvious landmark is the clock tower, just inside the main gate, in the main square.

There are abundant banks and ATMs throughout the Stari Grad. ATMs often dispense as few bills as possible. For example, a withdrawal of €150 will probably produce 3 €50 bills. Many people refuse to make change from large bills, so it is advised to withdraw an even amount, to avoid €50 bills, or small amounts at a time. Banks are closed on Sunday or Holidays. Travellers cheques are generally not accepted, not even by banks. Note that not all restaurants or shops accept credit cards, either.

Kotor and the entire Kotor Bay have long been a vacation and second-home destination for many Europeans and British. After Serbian, English is the common language, and most waitstaff and hotel staff speak English.

The Arm Square

"The Arms Square" is the main and the largest town square in Kotor, Montenegro.

It hosts several stores, banks, cafés, bakeries and pastry shops, as well as many important cultural-historical monuments. Its name hails from Venetian times, when munitions were made and stored here.

The Clock Tower

The Clock Tower was built in the 17th century. It was built partly in Baroque style, while the northern and eastern facades were built in Gothic style.

A reconstructed medieval pillory stands in front of the tower.

Bas menyusuri laluan jalanraya dan melintasi Bay of Kotor.

The Bay of Kotor (Montenegrin: Boka Kotorska) is a region of Montenegro. The bay, the city of Kotor and the surrounding territory are a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Bay of Kotor consists of four smaller gulfs - gulf of Herceg Novi, gulf of Tivat, gulf of Risan, and gulf of Kotor. The gulfs of Herceg Novi and Tivat are connected via the Kumbor strait, while the extremely narrow Verige strait connects the gulf of Tivat with the gulfs of Risan and Kotor. The total area equals 88 square kilometres. The gulf of Herceq Novi empties into the Adriatic Sea.

Due to its unusual look, the bay is often called Europe's southernmost fjord, but in fact it's a submerged river canyon.

The territory surrounding the bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska) is divided into 3 municipalities: Kotor, Herceg Novi and Tivat. It's a multiethnic region, with a Serbian majority in the municipalities of Herceg Novi and Tivat, a Montenegrin majority in Kotor, and a sizeable Croatian minority in Kotor and Tivat.

KEMBARA BALKAN - MONTENEGRO | 07 KOTOR : Sebening Pagi Kotor - Part 01

Selamat pagi Kotor !

Awal awal pagi aku dah terjaga. Tak mampu tidur berlama lama. Walau jam baru menunjukkan pukul 5.30 pagi tapi cuaca dah terang benderang. Advantage travel waktu summer.

Merenung keluar jendela.

Kalau tak jalan jalan ni memang tak sempat lah.

Bersiap siap dan buat apa yang patut, aku bergerak turun dan cuba cuba nak explore Old Town waktu pagi pagi ni.

Resto tempat aku beli nasi semalam tu.

Lengang keadaan sekitar. Senyap sunyi.

Old town ni banyak kucing... siap ada muzium kucing lagi.

Old town Kotor...........

The Old Town is the most famous part of Kotor, where the Kotor history, culture, and tradition are being preserved. The old town of Kotor has a great number of monuments of the medieval architecture: churches, cathedrals, palaces, and museums. They are complemented with the multitude of narrow streets, squares, and markets.

The main and the biggest square is Trg od oruzja (Square of arms). That square was and remained the main place for gathering. In addition, there are some significant cultural monuments like: Tower watch (VIII century), Cathedral of Sveti Tripun (XIII century), Church of Sveti Luka (XIII century), Prince’s palace (XVII century), Church of Sveta Marija (XII century), Church of Our Lady of Health (Gospe od Zdravlja) (XV century), and Napoleon’s Theater (XIX century). Old Kotor has also numerous palaces like: Bizanti, Buca, Pima, and Grgurin (which houses the Maritime museum).

The old town of Kotor today is considered to be the best preserved medieval urban entity in the Mediterranean. There are three entrances to the Old Town, the main one is the Sea Gate of 1555.

Area clocktower pun masih lengang

Lengang

Tak seperti namanya, Kotor tapi kawasan ni memang tak kotor !

Apa yang menarik di Kotor ni sebenarnya?

Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro with a population of 23,500. It is known for its beautiful architecture and natural setting.

Kotor is situated in the secluded Boka Kotorska bay, on Montenegro's northern coast. It has developed around Stari Grad (local language for "old town"), the city's old town and best known landmark, which is listed with UNESCO World heritage sites, and the city walls are even separately listed together with five other Venetian city walls along the Adriatic and in Italy.

The bay is the deepest natural fjord in the Mediterranean Sea, and the scenery around it (including the steep mountains which come almost to the waterfront) is spectacular.

Usha usha lagi kawasan sekitar.

So sesuka suka hati aku je panjat tembok

Dan usha kawasan dari atas tembok

Kampana Tower - Medieval-era bastion, part of the fortification of Kotor, with bay & mountain views.

Mountains view

Church of Our Lady of Remedy. Salah satu ikonic symbol of Kotor

Aku cadang cadang memang nak panjat. Aku baca, kalau naik pagi pagi maybe free.. Kalau dah siang sikit kena bayar. Tapi fikir lagi aku tak de banyak masa. Kang naik terpongeh atas tu tak sempat nak turun kejar bas.

So aku akur, layan angin kat bawah bawah ni jer...

Baca ni.................

Climb up the Upper Town Walls. daily 8:00-20:00. Stretching some 4.5 km directly above and east of the Old Town, on almost vertical cliffs, is the meandering upper town walls. It looks a little like a short version of the Great Wall. Climbing up the 1350 steps will be rewarded by an excellent view of Kotor and the bay from the Church of Our Lady of Health (half way up) and the St John's fortress on top. Only advisable for physically fit people, furthermore on some sections the steps are broken up. Choose your footwear wisely (sturdy shoes preferable over sneakers and definitely no flipflops). If you walk early in the morning (e.g. between 7:30 and 9:30), the steps and Fortress is less crowded and you will be walking in the shadow (which is advisable in the summer). The 1200ft ascent may take an hour. There are two access points to the Upper Town Walls, one near the northern gate by St. Mary's Church, and one closer to the southern gate to the Old Town. €3 May-Oct, otherwise free.

Sekitar kawasan Kotor di luar kawasan Old City

Kawasan pergunungan yang mengelilingi Bay of Kotor

So sebab tak panjat bukit tu, aku berkeliaran kat area Port of Kotor tu jer..

Suasana pagi

Port of Kotor

Kapal dan bot bot

Sayup pandangan

Matahari kian cerah

Kapal pesiar

Dan kapal kapal mewah

Bagi aku Kotor ni memang cantik. Lokasi pun lawa..

Layan abiskan gambar gambar sekitar Bay of Kotor .................

Memang kawasan dia romantik ! Sesuai gak kalau nak honeymoon.

bersambung.................
